Resonances of the vocal tract
On page 119, when Ladefoged uses the analogy of one long tube equalling the vocal tract, he says “It is apparent that this variation in air flow (or air pressure) has a wavelength that is four times as long as the length of the tube.” I don’t see how this is “apparent”. The two figures (8.3, 8.4) accompanying this passage of text don’t really make sense to me.
Nevermind, the video explained it much better than the book.
