We introduced DTW to account for variation of time between the two elements that we compare..
Why, then, when motivating for the probabilistic model (slide 44 in module_6_to_9), it says that one of the associated problems of DTW is that it does not account for temporal variability?
Because there is only one template (exemplar) and that doesn’t capture the natural variations in duration – it’s just one way that the word (for example) could be said.
