I still don’t quite understand the difference between pitch tracking and pitch marking. Is it that pitch tracking requires a relatively accurate estimation of F0 whereas pitch marking only need to estimate the change of F0 from one time to another?
I feel that I do not have a clear understanding of pitch and F0: it seems to me that pitch/intonation is the change of F0 (e.g, a big F0 followed by a small F0 will cause a fall tone) instead of the value of F0 itself.
Let’s go over the difference between pitch tracking and pitch marking in the lecture.
For speech, we often conflate the terms “pitch” and “fundamental frequency” even though we really should not. See also this topic.
