The volume in the right corner is up but when I type ‘(SayText “Hello world.”) and hit Enter there is no sound. I also can’t hear the video sound. I’m using a macOS. I was trying to find the directory of ‘Customize Settings’ to add the sound card but I wasn’t able to find it.

Did you complete Module 0, and was the sound working then?
Try Virtual Machine – Settings – Add Device (it’s a button on the Settings window, top right) and see if you can add a Sound Card. See screenshots attached.
You may need to do this when the virtual machine is shutdown, not running.

Thank you and I’m done with that! I try to follow your steps after the virtual machine is shut down and everything is ok. I guess I pressed the “Remove Sound Card” button last time when I added the sound card… In the module 0 checklist, I only opened the video and did not check if I can hear it, sorry about coming up with this question late!

I also got no sound in VM Mare, I have followed the steps in module 0 and the sound card seems to work fine (as presented in the screenshot), but I still couldn’t hear anything when trying festival. May I ask whether there are other possible solutions for the no sound problem?

You’re getting an error for every command you run in Festival, because you’re not using valid Scheme syntax. The commands should be wrapped in parentheses, just like in the instructions or the mentioned post.
