In the slides it says that we should ‘state the report’s aims, language, system and data set being used’ in the introduction and I’m a bit confused about what this means.
I think I understand that the aim, is along the lines of investigating the speech synthesis process through the Festival TTS system but for the other parts:
Is language referring to the language of the Festival voice? (i.e. Scottish dialect of English?)
Is system just Festival?
And is the data set the sentences we’re using as input? Or is it the Festival voice’s database?
It’s good practice to specify the language (and accent, or other properties, when relevant) you are working with: you would be amazed at how many published papers forget to do that!. Likewise, it is good practice to be clear about what data are used, where they come from, etc.
The data here include both that in the unit selection voice, and the sentences you use to illustrate mistakes.
