Hi,
I have a rather small laptop screen. When I use the VM, everything is really small (see attached image).
At first, I thought it won’t be a problem, but now that we will work a lot with it for our first assignment, it starts to get really annoying. Is there a way to make everything bigger?

In the Linux VM, open Applications – System Tools – Settings (which you have open in your screenshot).
In Settings, look under Devices to find Displays, where you can change the resolution.
Report back to let others know if this works, or to let me know you need more help..

I tried changing the resolution to various options but unfortunately, this didn’t have an impact on the font and app sizes. The window gets smaller only and there is a black border around it (see attached screenshot).
Is there a different way to solve this?
PS: in another course, we are using the Informatics Remote Desktop service and there the solution was to go to Preferences > Mate Tweak > Windows > HiDPI and setting it to HiDPI instead of auto-detect.
But I can’t find this setting on the VM/ this Linux version.Attachments:

You can do this via:
Settings > Universal Access > Large Text (turn on)
Hope that helps!

Try also looking in the VMware settings for this virtual machine – there are some options to fit the VM to the window and so on – experiment with those.
The other possibility is that your host computer has a very high resolution screen – see if you can adjust its settings to something lower resolution, although that will affect the host operating system too. This does the trick for me on my Mac.

Changing the resolution in the VM settings worked for me, thank you!
