Hi
I understand that HInit initialises the model by uniformly segmenting the observations and assign states to it. I see this initialisation as a one-step process, but the terminal output of running HInit produces several iterations for each word model? Why does HInit need to iterate?
Thanks!
HInit performs uniform segmentation, immediately followed by Viterbi training. The output that you are seeing for several iterations is for the Viterbi stage of training.
