Formants vs harmonics

  Hello,
  
  Just requesting a clarification on the relationship between formants, and harmonics – I understand that the former pertains to the vocal tract, while the latter pertains to the vocal folds, but what is the further (i.e. mathematical) relationship? Would this be dependent on length of the vocal tract?
