Cannot login to VM

When I press the play button for some reason I am not prompted with my username and password anymore and the text below comes up. This happened after I tried to download the files from the university and an error message came up. I had a software update message so I installed that, restarted the VM and was going to try download the files again when this happened.

Hi Anna – where does this text display – in the terminal window, or is this the only thing that happnes when you start the VM?

OK, I’ve been looking online and it seems like (annoyingly) the solution is either to do something quite technical (see here, but I don’t fancy it!), or to just reinstall ATLab – would the second option mean you would lose any data?

I couldn’t get any of the solutions I found online to work. Luckily I didn’t have any data on it so I have just reinstalled it. Thank you!

Glad it’s sorted. In general, we recommend not to store any valuable files inside the VM, but rather on your host computer.
