In ‘series expansion’ lecture, Prof.King puts an arbitrary set of coefficients (0.11, 0.15.0.25,0.20 … ).on basis functions
I’ve wondered how we’d get the weight and what basis are we using to get the the set of weights. Is it just enough to multiply the amplitude from the signal that’s being analysed and the basis function to know their ‘similaritiy’? Is it somewhere joint probability comes in?
Yes, the similarity between a basis function and the signal being analysed is computed by multiplying them sample-by-sample and summing up.
