Thanks a lot for your reply. Ths sounds works fine in the VM, but after I tried resetting festival, it still make no sound.

I also got no sound in VM Mare, I have followed the steps in module 0 and the sound card seems to work fine (as presented in the screenshot), but I still couldn’t hear anything when trying festival. May I ask whether there are other possible solutions for the no sound problem?

In 16.2.4, when Taylor discuss the tradeoff between dimensionality reduction and accuracy, he specifies that “there is a natural distance metric between the specification and units and this simplifies the design of the target function” How to understand the “natural distance metric” mentioned here?
