A good option for using the linux command line on Windows is to use Ubuntu WSL: https://ubuntu.com/wsl
This will give you an ubuntu linux terminal you can use on your Windows computer.
You can also try using the powershell or PuTTy (https://www.ssh.com/academy/ssh/putty/windows) to ssh into the PPLS AT labs (as for assignment 1), with username: your UUN, password: your EASE password.
For PuTTY use host: sshatl.ppls.ed.ac.uk
In powershell (with ssh enabled):
ssh your_uun@sshatl.ppls.ed.ac.uk
