› Forums › General questions › Installing the Scottish male voice for festival at home
Hi,
I have successfully compiled festival on a VM at home. Currently I am trying to install the Scottish male multisyn voice for use in SP Assignment 1.
Are these the correct instructions to follow?
https://cstr-edinburgh.github.io/Multisyn_unit_selection/
Thanks.
No, those are the instructions for actually building a new voice. That’s the coursework for Speech Synthesis in semester 2.
To install a voice, you simply need to copy the appropriate files from the computers in the lab. Korin is the best person to write instructions for that, so I’ll ask him to do so.
I’ve tried to install Festival on my Mac, but when I run it it gives the error {FND} Feature Token_Method not defined and (voice.list) returns nil. I’ve unpacked the voice kal_diphone and the lexicons within the festival/lib directory, but it still doesn’t work. I’d appreciate any advice.
You can’t do this assignment with the kal_diphone voice. You would need to take a copy of the Scottish male voice from the lab computers (and delete it from your own device afterwards).
Given the large variety of student computers, we don’t currently offer any technical support on installing Festival. There is a festival mailing list where you can find most answers.
The Appleton Tower lab is fully supported and is the best place to do the assignment, partly because you will learn more by working alongside other students.
