I tried to add strange words to my scripts like “prprprfg” in
( arctic_a0001 “prprprfg of the danger trail, Philip Steels, etc.” )
But the festival still return “t” after I run the command of checking script against the dictionary. May I ask why?
It might be the case that the dictionary recognises the word “prprprfg” as a sequence of letters and then recognises each letter (we can see the corresponding phoneme of each letter in the mlf file). But if we try a real word which rarely occurs like “moschops”, Festival will indicate that it is not in the dictionary:
“Moschops” not in lexicon. lts give (“Moschops” nil (((m o s) 0) ((ch o p s) 0)))
Thanks a lot!
Weijia W: Adding a word to the script like that is a very good technique – this is exactly the right line of thinking to explore what is happening in each step of voice building.
Bingzi Y: you are right – “prprprfg” wasn’t a good choice of “word” because this would have been classified by Festival as a NSW and expanded into something else (perhaps treated as a LSEQ?). Your “Moschops” is a better choice because this is clearly a possible word in English (in fact, it happens to be a real word in this case).
