› Forums › Technical support › Linux › Cannot adjust the PATH in Configure Festival exercise
After I have copied the files, I try to adjust PATH. I’m not sure to run the commands ~/.bashrc and PATH=/Volumes/Network/courses/ss/festival/festival_linux/festival/bin/:$PATH separately or together, but both response me with Permission denied. Don’t know which step went wrong?
I try to input sudo gedit ~/.bashrc and then add the line PATH=/Volumes/Network/courses/ss/festival/festival_linux/festival/bin/:$PATH, but the terminal started warning and without an output. I could run the $ which festival command line and it return that Festival is 2.5.0:release December 2017 version
You don’t need to use sudo
to edit that file – it’s in your file space, so you can edit it as yourself.
You should add the PATH line at the end of the file, as per the instructions, not the start.
Don’t type the “$” before commands – this is used in the instructions to indicate the bash prompt (to differentiate from the Festival prompt).
The sound in my Festival become strange even I delete that PATH line. It sounds like a rapid and short male voice that is compressed. I can’t catch what it is talking about.
