Thank you: I have a windows so I think I will drop this and try to focus on other aspects.

As an additional note, I actually still gets the permission error also when I try to use the tools for unit selection. I was trying to use make_f0 and it kept me giving a permission error. When I called it with sudo it gave me this message:

/Volumes/Network/courses/ss/festival/festival_linux/multisyn_build/bin/make_f0: line 41: /Volumes/Network/courses/ss/festival/festival_mac/festvox/src/general/smooth_f0: Permission denied

Before it worked for me: do you think is something related with ssh into the lab machines?
