Because Speech Processing is for students from many different backgrounds, the chances are that you will have a few gaps in your background knowledge. Here is some help in filling those gaps.
Module 1 - introduction
This module is an introduction to the course. If you're still deciding whether to do the course, look at this module first, then browse the later ones.
Module 2 - speech signals
Introducing the source-filter model of speech, which is of both theoretical and practical use.
Module 3 - speech synthesis - text processing
Text processing, including normalisation of Non-Standard Words.
Module 4 - speech synthesis - pronunciation & prosody
Pronunciation, including letter-to-sound models, and predicting prosody. All these tasks can be done with Classification And Regression Trees (CARTs).
Module 5 - speech synthesis - waveform generation
Manipulating recorded speech signals to create new utterances.
